All four of my kids asked for a DS for Christmas. I said, "Not Happening." We're talking about $200 each not to mention $50 games. They already have an XBOX, WII, Nintendo 64 (ooh yeah, baby) and about a hundred and fifty games between the three systems and then there's the internet. We so dont NEED a DS. The older three accepted their fate and only our 5 year old appealed to Big Red Deep Pockets. It was one of two things on his list. The other was footie PJ's like Timmy Turners.
I wrestled and considered and finally swallowed the bitter $400.00 pill. So Big Red only brought our family 2 DS's. Systems, games, accessories, all wrapped up in one package for The Family. How many times did John try to convince me to get two more? He didn't want to have to deal with the kids fighting over the present.
I am pleased to report that there has been NO fighting. A fallback rule was established on Christmas Day. We split the day in half. Ladies first. They actually don't even bother with the rule. They just take turns. I have always been an advocate of sharing. My preschoolers can tell you: "There are two ways to share, play together or take turns." My kids all feel like they got a DS for Christmas. (Or at least 1/2 of one).
