Justifiable Pride

Kicking and screaming, I join the ranks of parents who think they own the place. Not confusing my efforts with the founding board or the construction company, teachers, administrators, PTO, and other volunteers, ect... but I am proud to be a part of something that promises to be excellent. Back to school night was last night along with a whole ribbon cutting pomp and circumstance. I spent the day helping clean up the school and did feel a certain pride at the fingerprintless entryway. My enormous source of pride was watching sam lead the entire student body and parents in the Pledge of Alligence. He nonchalantly sauntered onstage, took the microphone, and fulfilled his part in the ceremony. A lesser man might have feared the enormous crowd but this kid did not even blink. The principal introduced him to the whole school and since everyone is attending from all over the south valley, Sam earned instant popularity- at least, everybody knows his name. Brilliant.
