Dissonance

I cant stand going to a new grocery store! I think it is because there is just too much new information to take in. I don't know where things are and I don't recognize the brands or the pricing. I cant find the things I usually buy. I can walk up and down the first couple of isles okay but the further I go the more frustrated I become. Even if I am not in any hurry the anxiety builds and feel like I have to get out of there as quick as possible. Do grocery stores know this? I think they could capitalize on the phenomenon somehow.

On a peripheral topic: This is what 300 lbs. of rice looks like. That is how much rice LDS food storage calculator recommends for a year supply for our family. I was skeptical that we really eat that much. I would guess in a typical year we will eat about 40 lbs. and we eat rice ALOT. But I found this conversion 1 pound Rice=2cups raw= 6 cups cooked. Which means that will give us 4.92 cups of cooked rice per day for a year. That is less than one cup cooked rice per person per day. Okay. I can see us eating that. No, we are not going to store it like that. I am planning to pouch seal it on Saturday and keep it in tupperwares. This should give us peace of mind for 30 years. Then again, we will have to start eating it after 15 years or we will never get through it all before it goes bad. I ALMOST forgot to mention that I only paid $105 for all that rice. It is on sale at Maceys this week and I have been watching the prices. This is the lowest I have seen. Lower than the cannery. WooHoo.
