This morning we went to our FIRST Drive-Through Easter egg hunt. Oh yeah. It was strange! There was snow on the ground from yesterday so I guess the hosts decided not to let the kids run around in the snow looking for eggs. The just ushered the cars into four lanes and handed out handfuls of eggs at the van window. I thought it was lame, but better than nothing. If they canceled, then what would they do with all the eggs? Still, the kids would have rather HUNTED.
This year we tried a new Easter observation. We started last Sunday (palm Sunday) and each night we've held a devotional reading through the last week of The Saviors life. We've done a few related activities. Certainly, the tradition will need a lot of polish. Hopefully in upcoming years we can perfect it. It's been great to focus on our Savior and appreciate the atonement.
The kids have been off school for spring break this week. They had a blast helping me with preschool and giving the preschoolers awesome individual attention. They were randomly entertained... Grandma and Grandpa Roach took them to see How to Train a Dragon. I took them to a carved egg exibit. They played with some friends. John took them to see Space Pirates at the planetarium. A really nice vacation. As usual, we will NOT be excited to return to school next week.
