Dostoyevsky
Last week I re-read crime and punishment. It has been almost 14 years since I read it last. I LOve this book! Now, my critical side HAS to say that every character has nearly the same exact personality, dialogue, style, and it is Horrendously annoying how dramatic everyone and every thing is. And, yes alot of the time it reads like a raving lunatic. But beyond that! It is stuffed with social, political, religous, and romantic ideals and plots. It is a psychological exploration of a murderer. I love psychology books. It is also an intricate interesting crime story. I highly recommend reading or re-reading it. Also very interesting to me is the contrast between understanding social themes 14 years ago vs. this time. Im still on a literary high. (warning- should be read quickly so as not to be weighted down with the darkness)
