I thought it was funny.

Reasons why I don't believe The Lord will EVER ordain women to the priesthood,

1- The Godhead consists of Men -1st article of faith
2- My house is a house of order - D&C 132:8
3- Thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee Genesis 3:16

That being said, IF women someday hold the priesthood, as long as that edict came from GOD, the Father and His Son, I will have NO Problem.Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-792245643390963542.post-11798967875462357102014-06-22T09:56:00.000-07:002014-06-22T09:56:11.112-07:00Please Don't Ordain Women"What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself: and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same." -D&C 1:38

I don't want to criticize anyone in this ongoing issue. I will start off by saying that if the Lord revealed to, his mouth piece on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson that women of the Church were to receive the Priesthood tomorrow, I would have no problem accepting that. Remember this is the Lord Jesus Christ's Church and He is as the head. We ALL go through trials of faith and very personal struggles. And if we go to the Lord in prayer and in secret He will help us. Making a spectacle of a concern and bringing on media only gives ammunition that the media can twist and represent both sides inaccurately.

We are all equal in the amount of love the Savior has for us. He created us. Let him be your guiding strength in your trials of faith.
I could go back, but probably I will just move forward.

We took a trip to Sunny St. George last weekend. We hoped to catch Emma's missionary farewell. We got ahead of the weather on Friday and had an easy trip down there but on Saturday an epic snowstorm hit and we were trapped in our hotel for the day. They canceled Sunday services because of the snow so we went to the Pasley's home in the morning and headed back home. Not at all what we had planned but a good trip. I love traveling with the family. Our kids all brought books. We shared one hotel room and did not get on each others nerves. Isaac wanted to go swimming multiple times but we only went once. Saturday evening during the snowstorm we were swimming in the indoor pool and hot tub and the outdoor pools were also open. Grace, Isaac, and I ran in our bare feet through the snow to get to the outdoor hot tub. The snow piled up on our head and shoulders while the hot tub was extra hot. Interesting. I'd do it again. We did some shopping and took in a movie- Frozen. It was cute. Nice weekend getaway with my favorite people.
A dozen doughnuts in our household is simply perfect because everyone knows without any discussion that they personally can have two doughnuts. Our doughnuts will sit on the counter for a few days until there is only one doughnut left. John is usually responsible. For some reason he will eat one of his doughnuts and then not be interested in the other doughnut for a week or more. Probably he does not really like doughnuts. I am always surprised and pleased that my kids will not eat that last doughnut when it sits on the counter day after day. This is unusual since they snack all day long. Barak's birthright is first claim to any take-out container in the refrigerator. They are welcome to and liberal with all snack crackers, popcorn, fruits, veggies, cookies and even interim meals as they like. I think the fact that that last doughnut will sit untouched for a week or more shows pretty great character in my kids. They know that once they have had their two doughnuts, whatever is left does not belong to them. My kids are awesome. Also, you could spell donut or doughnut. I personally like the first way. I have seen it both ways and dictionary.com agrees that either way is correct. But, blogger underlines it as a misspelled word so I went back and changed them all. boo.Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-792245643390963542.post-72672159918512380762013-03-13T09:50:00.003-07:002013-03-13T09:54:11.303-07:00a prodigy in the making

Eva enjoys art and is developing her talent. She can work with all different mediums at school- sculpting, painting, pencil, charcoal, ect.. except digital- they don't have digital supplies at school. She bought herself a bamboo so she can draw digitally at home (a study in eyes). She puts a lot of time and effort into her work and she is awesome. Her art teacher at school says he has never seen a 7th grader produce this level of work. The bottom picture is Shawn Spencer from Psych. She drew it as a gift for Grace's birthday.

Thank Heavens that Barak's path is decided. Our charter school is opening a high school to complete the k-12 experience. Barak does NOT want to return to the charter school. And, I do not want him to. He has his high school "career" mapped out to help him get college credits in high school and hopefully some scholarship aid eligibility. Eva's path is still unknown. Pro's and con's with both schools. She has decided to return to the charter school next year for 8th grade and maybe move over to the district school for 9-12 high school experience. So luckily, we do not have to make that decision yet. Grace. I am not so sure anymore. All year I have been planning to pull her out of the charter school because the kids in her grade are all pre-teen hormonal. But, Grace has matured quite a bit lately and I am second guessing my decision. Every time I have talked to Isaac he has told me he wants to stay at the charter school for his entire "career". Then yesterday he told me he wanted to go to the district elementary with the rest of the neighborhood. That's new. They are going to open a new elementary next to the splash pad around the corner next year. If Isaac leaves the charter school, it will probably be then. I guess it's just Grace that is up in the air.......................Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-792245643390963542.post-37643334049243476712013-03-04T09:03:00.002-08:002013-08-28T09:12:07.507-07:00I'm a O10-C58-E2-A22-N71 Big Five!!
She's not quite old enough for anything and she's not a child anymore. Good thing she likes to wear high boots because her long legs make floods of every pair of pants. Capri's are not in season yet. She's learning how to tame her locks which requires her to sleep in braids to avoid a ratsnest. She likes Hank Smith cd's and Lego friends. She likes Dr. Who, Psych, reading, drawing, Minecraft, and hanging out just talking to friends. She is incredibly organized, fastidious. She is obedient, sober, and very concerned with right and wrong. Her teacher appreciates her excellent behavior and likes to use her example as a model to other students. She works hard for her straight A's. I love her work ethic! She feels deeply and is kind and fiercely loyal.
For her party, we recorded a cooking show. We personalized aprons and chef hats. We learned how to bake and decorate cake pops and piping frosting. Only one set of footprints in the snow outside her bedroom window. She left without shoes, coat, or glasses. At the back of her yard was a walking trail to one of the city parks. A perfectly happy, shy 13 year old with no apparent family strife was not in her bed in the morning and her window was open in the 23 degree weather. Two scenarios were probable. 1)She left her family intentionally, deliberately leaving behind essential items to heighten the drama. or 2)She was kidnapped and was being held against her will- or worse. I joined the search for about 7 hours. My teams covered 4.5 square miles. I tramped through two feet of snow, scaled 4 barbed wire fences, and I was charged by angry horses. The first day I joined the search I was looking for a runaway young woman possibly hiding in a mobile home, shed, or any shelter she could find from the cold. We knocked on doors and checked yards. Best case scenario: She had run away and was safe, hiding somewhere. She probably did not even know we were looking for her. The second day I was much more thorough, looking carefully behind, under, and around every piece of farm machinery, abandoned vehicle, pile of wood, peering into shed windows, under bushes, in ditches, behind garbage cans, down wells. I was looking for a body. Unconsciously, something had changed in my mind overnight. I am reasonable and practical. I decided the more probable of the two scenarios was kidnapping and the awful. I was still hoping and praying for a safe return but in my mind it was the least likely. By this point she should have seen the news coverage, flyers, social media coverage and ect. as a runaway she or her companions could have called. More than a thousand volunteers searched every mile of the 17 miles of our city twice over. I though the foot search was not the most efficient course of action. I had no hope of anyone finding anything. I was out there for the family's sake. I wanted to help them feel peace. If it were my daughter, I would knock on every door and search every inch of the city. I wanted them to know that they did not search alone. Searching was the something that we could do to help and not feel hopeless. We needed to know that we had done all we could. Last night she called her grandmother and was recovered safely. Hundreds of strangers had searched and hundreds more prayed for her safe return. Our prayers were heard and answered affirmatively.
Not every missing child report receives this response. Suspicious circumstances, social media, many loving family members and neighbors and a call to action made this one different. So many missing children are not recovered quickly or safely. I believe that The Lord answers our prayers when he can. Today I don't have to think about depraved individuals who would hurt a child. Thy will be done. I'd hope so, this life is supposed to be about progress. I think so. I feel better about life than I did at this time last year. I remember that I was completely consumed with my workload in the office, in comparison, this year the workload is better controlled.
Home is comfortable and cozy. Quite cozy. We had a Christmas to remember! We took a couple days vacation to Zermatt in Midway and celebrated Christmas there. It was an idyllic setting. The fireplace, the beautiful chalet, the miniature Christmas tree and all of the presents. Getting away from work, house mess, ect. I have always wanted to be in a cabin over Christmas. The Zermatt resort was probably better than a cabin, warm and insect free. I hope we get to do that again every year. It was truly my dream come true Christmas. Only drawback is having to drive on slick roads to get there and back and also hauling up all the loot.
Last year I only blogged about 10 times. Consequently, I cant really remember what our year was like. Boo. I will try to do better this year- for my own memory sake. I will also look into one of those services that prints your blog like a book. That would make a good family journal if I can figure it out. Once, I started exporting my entries and pictures into a word document for printing but it was taking too long and I stopped. That would be huge project, I don't have that kind of time.
We tried out the Seven Peaks Sandy bowling last friday. This is a camera phone picture so not very good. It took us three hours to complete one game because there were 21 of us in two lanes. Barak, Eva, Mitchell, and Morgan sat at the back table most of the time. Grace, Lindsay, and Madeline are central to the pic. This is the first time we have bowled in many years. We had a good time.Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-792245643390963542.post-27843339834353979992012-07-25T07:51:00.002-07:002012-07-25T07:51:25.454-07:00renewedI need to make time for blogging. It matters. I've gone back and looked over the past 5 years of blogging and am so surprised at the important things I would have otherwise forgotten. It is not as easy to upload pictures as it used to be which makes me sad. I have so many pictures to post and comment on. It's going to be a huge task to "catch up"Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-792245643390963542.post-57944274793635446252012-07-07T06:12:00.001-07:002012-07-25T07:58:48.452-07:00

Grace tried water polo this year at the insistance of a friend, McKenna. She really enjoyed going to practices and we finally got her to play in a game. She was worried because she did not feel prepared. I think she liked it.Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-792245643390963542.post-81693819021927237212012-06-27T10:43:00.002-07:002012-06-27T10:43:25.236-07:00wave goodbye

Last night we were over by Ikea and the AC light started blinking and turned off. When we came out of the store we saw a huge puddle of oil under the van. We refilled the oil and brought it home. I called the dealership this morning after some online research. They told me to get it towed in. Apparently there was a recall about an oil hose replacement.Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-792245643390963542.post-63043217495820628402012-06-27T10:24:00.001-07:002012-06-27T10:27:07.995-07:00faith restoredupdate, the ksl guy called me back and asked if we wanted our money back. YES. I drove back over there and made the swap yesterday morning. He was really nice about it. I felt kind of like a jerk doing the return but then he probably kind of felt like a jerk ripping off a kid so I guess were even. And I guess what I've learned is that I should never trust anyone, but, if you give someone a chance to do the right thing, they could surprise you.Crystal Roachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03365457523090939298noreply@blogger.com0
